Midhope Castle is a 16th-century tower house about 30 minutes from Edinburgh city centre. If you’ve watched Outlander or Blood of my Blood, you’ll recognise the archway, the courtyard and the castle steps.
We photograph elopements, vow renewals and handfasting ceremonies here. Up to 12 guests. The whole thing takes about two hours, and we handle the photography while you focus on getting married.
This isn’t affiliated with Outlander. But if this place means something to you, we know how to make the most of it.

What to expect on the day
Midhope Castle is on the Hopetoun Estate, about 30 minutes west of Edinburgh city centre. During visitor season the castle and grounds are open to the public. Outside of those hours (or out of season) you can have exclusive use.
The courtyard, the archway, the steps and the surrounding grounds are all available for your ceremony and photos. You can also go inside the castle where one room has been renovated and features props from the TV show. If you’ve seen Outlander, you’ll recognise every angle.
We spend up to two hours with you. That’s enough time for the ceremony, portraits around the castle and some wider shots in the grounds. If you want to extend into Edinburgh for more photos afterwards, we can do that too.
For the full Outlander experience, add a Glencoe shoot the next day. We’ll take you to locations from the opening scene and beyond.

What is the deposit?
25% of the package chosen. Your date is secured upon payment of deposit.
Why are the prices “from”?
Every elopement is different. Some require additional planning while others may require overnight stays.
Can we legally get married at Midhope?
We offer non-legal ceremonies, handfasting and vow renewals at Midhope. If you need a legal ceremony, we can point you to celebrants who can help. Many couples get legally married at home and have their “real” ceremony here.
How many guests can we bring?
Up to 12 guests maximum.

All prices on the website are excluding VAT at 20%. Our VAT registration number is 464039687.
