What will your Scotland elopement cost?
Tweak the details to your trip and we’ll build a realistic, personalised budget — flights from your part of the world and all.
All figures are in pounds sterling (GBP) and are ballpark estimates to help you budget — real prices vary by season, supplier and how fancy you go. Any home-currency figure is converted at today’s live exchange rate as a rough guide only — rates move constantly, so treat it as approximate; you’ll always pay in GBP and your bank sets the final rate. Official fees shown for a legal ceremony (Marriage Visitor visa £135 per person, marriage notice around £45 per person) can change — always confirm current rates on gov.uk and mygov.scot. Your £4,000 with us already covers your photography, full planning and a ceremony we can perform.
“How much does it actually cost to elope in Scotland?” It’s the question we’re asked more than any other — so we built a calculator to answer it for your trip, not someone else’s.
The honest answer is that it depends. Where you’re flying from, how long you stay, whether you elope in the Highlands or the heart of Edinburgh, the time of year, and whether you marry legally here or symbolically — they all move the number. The tool above lets you set each of those to your own plans and builds a realistic budget in pounds, with an approximate conversion to your home currency as a guide. Here’s how the costs tend to break down.
How much does it cost to elope in Scotland?
Most international couples spend somewhere between £6,000 and £12,000 all in, once you add up photography, flights, accommodation, a hire car, and the smaller details. Premium trips with luxury stays can run higher; a pared-back symbolic elopement in quieter months can come in lower. Our photography and full planning is £4,000, with an optional cinematic film at £1,000 — and because that price already covers your planning and a ceremony we can perform, a lot of what couples elsewhere pay separately is already handled. For a deeper dive, read our honest breakdown of what it costs to elope in Scotland.
Is it cheaper to elope in Edinburgh or the Highlands?
It’s a trade-off rather than a clear winner. Edinburgh is walkable, so you won’t need a hire car, but city-centre hotels tend to be dearer. The Highlands are often a little cheaper to stay in, but you’ll want a car to reach the best glens and viewpoints. The calculator adjusts for both automatically when you switch between them, so you can see the real difference for your trip rather than guessing.
What’s included with us, and what’s extra
Your £4,000 covers two photographers all day, a curated gallery, full planning, and a non-legal ceremony we can perform — so you’re not paying separately for a planner or, in most cases, a celebrant. What you budget on top is the travel side of things: flights, accommodation, a hire car if you’re in the Highlands, hair and make-up, flowers, and — if you choose to marry legally in Scotland rather than at home — the official fees. Those are a Marriage Visitor visa at £135 per person and a marriage notice at around £45 per person, both of which the calculator adds in for you.

How much are flights to Scotland from the US, Canada or Australia?
As a rough guide, return flights run around £750–£1,000 per person from most of North America and £1,300+ from Australia, varying by season and how far ahead you book. The calculator estimates this automatically from the part of the world you’re flying from.
What does the £4,000 Sassenachs package include?
Two photographers for the whole day, a hand-edited gallery, complete planning (locations, suppliers, legalities, your itinerary), and a non-legal ceremony we can perform ourselves. Travel across mainland Scotland is included. The only optional extra is a cinematic film at £1,000.
Do we need to budget for a visa to elope in Scotland?
Only if you’re getting legally married in Scotland. In that case most overseas couples need a UK Marriage Visitor visa at £135 per person, plus a marriage notice of around £45 per person. If you do the legal paperwork at home and have a symbolic ceremony with us, there’s no visa or notice fee to budget for.
