Sarah and Jack came to us from Phoenix, Arizona, with a feeling rather than a plan. They knew they wanted Scotland. They didn’t yet know where.

Here’s how they found us, in their own words:

Their first message to us

“My fiance and I would love to do a destination elopement in Scotland and we are unsure of an exact location and would love some guidance. We love the outdoors, mountains, by water, the forest, but we also understand that February may not have the best weather. We have never been to Scotland before and could possibly add some photos in Edinburgh or with a castle or ruins.”

This is the part we love most. Not a couple who arrive with everything booked, but a couple who hand us a blank canvas and a bit of trust. They’d never been to Scotland. They were honest about February. They wanted water, wildness, maybe a ruin. So we talked it through and built them a day that gave them all of it, without the long drives a Highland winter would have meant.

A whole day in the clouds, planned from scratch

They got ready at Prestonfield House, all peacocks and opulence on the edge of the city. Then we married them at the ruins of St Anthony’s Chapel, high up in Holyrood Park, in cloud so low it felt like saying their vows inside it. There are days you couldn’t plan if you tried, and a couple from the Arizona desert getting married in a literal cloud is one of them.

From there we walked. Through Holyrood, down into Dean Village and along the Water of Leith, that hidden green pocket most visitors never find, then back into the Old Town. Ruins, water, old stone, city. Every single thing on their wishlist, woven into one overcast, atmospheric, completely them February day.

“They came to us with a feeling and a few photos they liked. We gave them back a whole day, built around exactly what they’d hoped for.”

That’s what the planning is for. Most of our couples have never set foot in Scotland when they first email us. They don’t need to have it figured out. That’s our job, and it’s included in every booking. Two of us, all day, the whole thing planned around what you love, even when all you can tell us at the start is “outdoors, water, maybe a ruin.”
