Hey. We’re Matt & Jodie.
Husband. Wife. Elopement photographers. Professional cocktail enthusiasts.
We’re probably the least intimidating photography duo you’ll ever meet. We don’t take ourselves seriously. We will absolutely make you laugh. And we’ll probably suggest stopping for a drink or cake at some point during your elopement day.
We met in an office — yes, VERY Jim and Pam (IYKYK) — and quickly became inseparable. We’ve worked together every day since. We like animals a lot (maybe more than our children) and spend most of our time ensuring our kids fall in love with Harry Potter and cricket. We hold the firm belief that the Game of Thrones ending was an absolute travesty. (We’re still not over it. We may never be over it.)
When we’re not capturing elopements across Scotland, you’ll find us rewatching The Office, quoting Big Bang Theory, crying at Outlander (mainly Matt), or trying to wrangle our three kids and two-and-a-half dogs. (Long story on the half.)
Matt
The one without the fur and the grumpy faceThat’s Poppy the cat. I’m the other one. I’m the driving force behind The Sassenachs – I take the lead on your elopement day, handle the photography, the planning, the logistics, and I will absolutely make too many jokes. It’s a problem.
I’m a total geek. I could talk for hours about Harry Potter, Scottish history (I also film history documentaries on the side), or why Bran becoming king made absolutely no effing sense. Check out our Instagram to witness my “comedy” in action. I’m also the one who’ll probably end up carry your dress through a bog without complaining. Much.
Jodie
Along for the rideI’m here to make sure you look amazing — I studied hair and makeup in college, you know! — and to stop Matt going off on a tangent about Dumbledore’s backstory during your ceremony. He will probably say “that’s what she said” and I can’t, OK won’t, be able to stop that.
After your big day, I’m the one editing all those gorgeous photos. I’m also the one who will hype you up, tell you that you look absolutely incredible (because you will), and probably tear up during your vows. I’m a crier. I own it.

Why we do this
We genuinely love elopements. Not in a “we put it on our website because it sounds good” way. In a “this is genuinely the best job in the world” way.
We get to spend entire days with couples who’ve decided to do things their own way. No seating plans. No drama about plus-ones. No family drama. Just two people, Scotland and a wee bit of an adventure.
We’ve been doing this for over 10 years now. We’ve photographed hundreds of elopements across the Highlands and Edinburgh. And honestly? We still get excited every single time.
