Shieldaig Lodge Elopement

A LAID BACK. LOW-KEY HIGHLAND ELOPEMENT ON THE BANKS OF SHIELDAIG BAY
Leone and Tobias came from Northern Germany for their Scottish elopement. Leo and Tobi knew they wanted a low-key, laid back elopement in the Scottish Highlands, and they decided on the Shieldaig Lodge. It’s a cosy and luxurious former hunting lodge with only 12 boutique rooms, on the banks of Shieldaig bay. Leo and Tobi chose late summer for their Highland elopement, taking full advantage of the milder weather and longer days. After landing in Scotland, they hopped on a bus as far as it could take them, then hiked the rest of the way, wedding outfits carefully placed in their backpacks.
A CEREMONY FULL OF HIGHLAND TRADITION FOLLOWED BY PHOTOGRAPHS IN SHIELDAIG GLEN
Hoping for moody but dry weather, the weather Gods duly delivered and gave us overcast conditions all day. The grand reception hallway of the Shieldaig Lodge was a dramatic setting for the emotional ‘first look’ as Leo descended the stairs to meet Tobi. They made their way to the banks of Shieldaig Bay for the ceremony as bagpipes filled the air. They were welcomed by Humanist celebrant Aly Stewart and their joyful ceremony was full of laughter. Leo and Tobi included Highland wedding traditions in their ceremony – a traditional hand-fasting, and broom jumping – the broom would sweep away dirt in front of the couple, who then jump over the broom – a way of sweeping away bad omens! We then captured wonderful photos and film whilst Leo and Tobi explored the Glen. They hiked to a vantage point by some jagged rocks which overlooks the loch, and then enjoyed a romantic woodland walk (with some dancing!) before heading back to the Lodge to enjoy a quiet evening.

It was a joy to be Leo and Tobi’s elopement photographers. The day was full of cheer and laughter and was so relaxed. Our favourite part of the day was Leo and Tobi’s adventure into the Glen. Leo had absolutely no fear of hiking in her wedding dress!
